Just Because It’s Friday Photo…..

This week’s photo is of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.  Whilst travelling recently we had a 6 hour stopover in Instanbul and decided to leave the airport and see a little of the city.  What an amazing building this is!

So here it is, a cool picture to make you smile…….just because hey, it’s Friday!

Just Because It’s Friday Photo…..

I have just returned from a wonderful, relaxing vacation.  One of the beautiful places I visited was Venice.  Venice really is like no other place on earth – being there is like stepping back in time and into another world; it’s magical.

So here it is, a cool picture to make you smile…….just because hey, it’s Friday!

I was going to say this is my English country home, but alas no, it is Houghton Hall – one of England’s finest Palladian houses, built by Great Britain‘s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole in the 1720s.

Today is my mother’s 70th birthday – happy birthday Mum – and this is where we spent a very pleasant afternoon visiting the grounds and beautiful gardens.

So here it is, a cool picture…….just because hey, it’s Friday!

Another week has gone by and Friday is here again; it’s been a good week at Big Skies Jewellery, I hope it has been for you too.

This week’s Friday Photo was taken looking over the very aptly named, Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool towards the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.   The monument, made of  marble, granite, and  bluestone gneiss, is both the world’s tallest stone structure and the world’s tallest obelisk, standing exactly 555 feet 5 and 1/8 inches (169.294 m).

So here it is, a cool picture to make you smile…….just because hey, it’s Friday!

This week: Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool – Washington, D.C.

Whenever I look at this photo it always reminds of the film Forrest Gump; the part where Forrest runs through the reflection pool to get to his sweetheart.

Just Because It’s Friday Photo…..

As a jewellery artist I take a lot of inspiration from what I see when I am travelling.  Last year we were lucky enough to visit Italy – the history, architecture, art, food, shopping, scenery, people ….it was all amazing!

This week’s cool picture is of the Leaning Tower of Pisa – but not the usual view, this was taken at the base looking straight (albeit whilst I was leaning over!) up the tower.  So here it is, a cool picture to make you smile…….just because hey, it’s Friday!

Just Because It’s Friday Photo

As a jewellery artist I am constantly inspired by what I see.  One of the things that inspires me most is traveling.

My favourite city in the whole world is New York City.  New York is just awesome, it has a vibe all of its own; there’s something about it that just keeps pulling us back every time we visit America.  This week’s photo was taken from the Empire State Building, looking down the street towards Central Park.  I love all the yellow cabs dotted along the road.

So here it isa cool photo to make you smile…….just because hey it’s Friday!

Try A New Perspective

I took this picture whilst on holiday last year in Europe. It is a view from the bottom of the leaning tower of Pisa, looking straight up the tower into the blue sky above. I love this photo; it reminds me that if we look at things from a different angle, sometimes something beautiful and unexpected can be found.

(It does look a bit like a wedding cake though, doesn’t it…?)

Just Because It’s Friday…

A cool picture to make you smile…….just because hey it’s Friday!

This week: vertical garden in Madrid, Spain.

vertical gardening, elevated Madrid Spain, creative, inspiration, cool picture, inspiring,This is Madrid’s Caixa Forum museum. The vertical garden is 24 metres high and takes up one wall of the square in front of the building. It has 15,000 plants of 250 different species and has become an instant drawing card to the area. It forms a striking contrast to the restored building which has a two-storey addition of rusted iron on top of the original. The architects, Herzog & de Meuron, said that they wanted to “create a very unusual encounter between the rough and the natural, …to incorporate nature so there can be the smell of a garden where you would not expect it.”

The creator of the garden is Patrick Blanc, who has made quite a speciality out of them all over France and coming soon to China and the UK. He believes that they could be created everywhere–in parking lots, train stations, the metro, “those difficult spaces where you don’t expect to see greenery”. Interestingly, growing plants out of a wall is not as heavy as it seems. Having researched the world’s jungles and rainforests as his basis, the weight is less than 30kg per square metre and can be installed on any wall.

Awesome isn’t it? Please share and help brighten up someone else’s day!
