If you are considering purchasing a piece of handmade jewellery from an online source, such as Etsy, chances are you that you probably have a few worries – but don’t panic, we all do, and I am here to help!
There are many, many benefits to jewellery shopping online, but admittedly there are also risks. I am going to discuss these risks, and advise on how best to mitigate them or avoid them completely!
Problem #1: Bad Product Photos of the Jewellery
The saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words”. When it comes to jewellery shopping online, nothing could be truer.
Make sure that the jewellery website you are looking at has a variety of good quality, clear photos, from many different angles of each of its pieces. Ensure there is at least one good crisp close-up. Also ensure that one of the photos clearly shows the clasp – a good clasp can make or break a piece of jewellery (literally!).
Make sure the photos convey the shape, size, colour and texture of the piece.
When jewellery shopping online, make sure the product photos are:
- Not too dark and
- Taken from different angles.
At Big Skies Jewellery my aim is that after a shopper has looked at all 5 of my pictures, they feel like they have picked up the item and looked it over and feel comfortable to take it to the cash register and buy! That is the way I want to feel when I purchase something online, and that is how I want YOU to feel to.
